WOW: An Overview

The 2018 WOW—Women of the World Festival in Baltimore
is being presented by Notre Dame of Maryland University.

Our History

Southbank Centre Artistic Director Jude Kelly launched WOW – Women of the World in 2010 to mark the centenary of International Women’s Day, as a major global festival that celebrates women and girls and looks at the obstacles they face, where hundreds of women’s stories could be shared, feelings vented, fun had, minds influenced and hearts expanded.

The ethos of WOW is to create a festival for everyone. It is bold and broad-based in its approach, both lively and serious, and feeds the demand to discuss anything and everything. It brings people together from all corners of society – both speakers and audience members – energizing and providing the inspiration and tools to make change.

Where else is WOW?

Launched in London, WOW festivals have engaged and inspired nearly two million people across five continents and cities in Australia, Egypt, India, Pakistan, China, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the U.K., NYC and Baltimore, Maryland. WOW strives to bring women and girls together from across the globe.

WOW Baltimore 2018 Keynotes

WOW will open with a keynote from #MeToo founder and activist Tarana Burke followed by a   day filled with panel discussions, entertainment, music, food trucks, WOW marketplace, speed mentoring and much more. Best-selling author Roxanne Gay will deliver the closing keynote.
